There’s something powerful about athletes who don’t chase the future—but instead master the present.
For Tomas Mencel, that mindset has defined everything.
From Running to Race Walking
Tomas began his athletic journey in February 2017. Like many young athletes, he started with running. But in October 2018, his coach saw something different—something more—and transitioned him into race walking.
Just a few months later, in January 2019, Tomas stepped onto the start line of his first competition.
He walked away with silver at the Slovak National Championships (U16).
That moment wasn’t just a result—it was a direction.
And he hasn’t looked back since.
Rising Through the Ranks
What followed was a steady climb built on discipline, focus, and quiet confidence.
- Multiple-time Slovak National Champion (U16 → U23)
- Competed twice at the European U20 Championships (first qualification at just 16 years old)
- 17th place at the World Championships (2022)
- 20th place at the European U23 Championships
- Victory at an international U18 national meet
But ask Tomas about long-term goals, and you’ll get a different answer than most athletes:
“I don’t like setting long-term goals. I prefer focusing on the present.”
That clarity—that ability to stay grounded—is what separates him.
Building a Life in the U.S.
Today, Tomas is continuing his journey in the United States, studying History and Political Science at the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky, with a minor in Strategic Communication.
It’s more than just academics.
It’s an environment designed for growth:
- Better training conditions
- Stronger competition
- More opportunities
Like any transition, it came with challenges—new coaching styles, different training systems, and a new mentality to adapt to.
But he embraced it.
And now, he’s exactly where he wants to be.

Beyond the Track
Six months ago, Tomas started something new—creating content on social media.
What began as curiosity quickly became a passion.
It’s another way for him to express himself, connect with others, and share his journey—not just as an athlete, but as someone evolving in real time.
And it’s something he plans to continue building into the future.
Clarity Matters
On the track, everything comes down to precision.
Form. Rhythm. Focus.
And sometimes—clarity.
When Tomas first tried PBPRO performance eyewear, his reaction was immediate:
“I opened the glasses and I’m honestly really surprised! Not many sunglasses fit my narrow face, but these fit perfectly. The design is elegant and they’re very comfortable on the face. They don’t press, they sit nicely, and they’re super lightweight. Amazing sunglasses!! 🔥”
That’s the difference.
Because when you’re moving forward—step by step, moment by moment—seeing clearly is everything.

The Beauty of the Journey
Tomas Mencel isn’t chasing hype.
He’s not rushing the process.
He’s building something—day by day, step by step.
And maybe that’s the real lesson:
There’s always a new day.
A new opportunity.
And the beauty of life…
is learning to see it clearly.
