When you think of a true volleyball all-arounder — someone who dominated indoor, helped build a beach program from scratch, and continues to elevate her game as a pro — few embody that versatility like Kaley Melville. Her story is one of grit, transformation, and constant reinvention. And at PBPRO, we’re proud to be part of that journey.
A Hatters Legend
Kaley’s legacy took shape at Stetson University, where she played indoor volleyball from 2011–2015. During that time, she started every match — 123 in total — and competed in 443 of 444 possible sets. That type of durability speaks volumes about her mindset and competitive fire.
By the time she graduated, her name was etched permanently into Stetson’s record books:
-
Most attack attempts in school history (4,157)
-
Second all-time in kills (1,282)
-
Third all-time in digs (1,203) — the only player ever to surpass both 1,200 kills and 1,200 digs
-
41 double-doubles, plus 64 matches with 10+ kills and 59 matches with 10+ digs
In 2013, she set the single-season rally-era kills record with 417 and recorded a career-best 28 kills in a single match. Her senior year became a turning point: she helped lead Stetson to its first postseason berth in 18 years, earning all-conference honors and serving as a respected team leader on and off the court.
On the Sand: Building a Beach Volleyball Powerhouse
But Kaley’s story didn’t end indoors. She became a founding member of Stetson’s first beach volleyball team when the program launched in 2012. Her versatility, work ethic, and competitive instincts helped lay the foundation for what would soon become a nationally recognized program.
Her beach achievements speak for themselves. In 2015, paired with Julie Bassett, she went a perfect 12–0 in ASUN play, earning:
-
ASUN Pair of the Year
-
ASUN Pair of the Tournament
-
First Team All-Conference honors
Under her leadership, Stetson qualified for the AVCA Collegiate Beach Championship, a milestone that reflected just how far the program had come.
Hall of Fame Recognition
In 2022, Kaley was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring her exceptional dual indoor–beach career. The recognition celebrated not just her statistics, but her leadership, impact on two programs, and her embodiment of the Hatters’ competitive spirit.
Pro Player & Coach — The Grind Continues
After college, Kaley transitioned into the professional beach volleyball world — and she hasn’t slowed down since.
Internationally, representing Team USA, she reached the semifinals at the NORCECA Continental Playoffs in Managua, Nicaragua, and the quarterfinals at the FIVB 1-Star in Tuan Chau, Vietnam.
On U.S. soil, she’s collected championships across a wide range of tours, including:
-
AVP Next
-
EVP
-
GAV
-
Sandbox
-
TVA Big Money
-
Excel
-
NVL Rize
-
Dig the Beach Series
She placed 2nd overall at the 2016 Atlantic City Big Shot East Coast Championship, and earned Final Four appearances at the 2017 World Series of Beach Volleyball and 2019 Motherlode Championship.
And in 2019, she returned to her roots — joining Stetson as an assistant coach for the beach volleyball program while continuing to compete professionally.
